Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at hello@ayatimind.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Ayati Mind offers online therapy, counselling and coaching from therapists who understand your cultural background and life experiences.

We exist to create a space where men feel understood - not explained.

Culturally attuned means your therapist understands how culture, identity, family dynamics, faith, migration, masculinity and lived experience shape mental health.

It’s not just about shared ethnicity.
It’s about shared awareness and sensitivity.

Ayati is designed specifically to address mental health disparities experienced by Black, Asian and Global Majority men.

However, anyone who values culturally responsive mental health support is welcome.

Login to the Ayati Connect platform

In 3 simple steps:

  1. You'll tell us what support you need and your preferences for finding a therapist or coach
  2. You'll be matched with a qualified and fully vetted, culturally competent therapist or coach based on your preferences
  3. You can then book video call or phone call sessions with your therapist or coach

Most platforms focus on convenience.
Ayati focuses on cultural understanding.

We prioritise:

  • Representation
  • Cultural nuance
  • Safe dialogue around identity
  • Community-driven wellbeing

This creates deeper trust and better engagement.

Yes. All therapists are vetted and must:

  • Hold recognised professional qualifications
  • Have a minimum of 3 years' experience in the field
  • Be registered with appropriate governing bodies (e.g. BACP, UKCP, HCPC)
  • Demonstrate cultural competence

We conduct a structured onboarding, vetting and review process of all our therapists.

Ayati Mind offers both.

Therapy:

  • Mental health and wellbeing support
  • Anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, etc...

Coaching:

  • Performance
  • Career
  • Confidence
  • Leadership
  • Life transitions, etc...

You choose what suits your needs.

Yes, the confidentiality and security of our users is a top priority for us. We use encrypted connections to protect your personal information and have strict privacy policies in place to ensure that all of your conversations with our providers remain confidential.

It’s normal to feel unsure.

Your first session is about:

  • Getting to know your therapist
  • Exploring what brought you here
  • Setting intentions

There’s no pressure to “perform” or have the right words.

You can come exactly as you are.

Only if it matters to you.

We create space for it - we don’t force it.

You lead the conversation.

Yes,  and you won’t need to justify your decision.

The relationship between you and your therapist is one of the most important factors in successful therapy. Feeling safe, understood and comfortable matters.

If at any point you feel the match isn’t quite right, you can switch therapists. There is no penalty, no awkward process, and no explanation required.

We understand that:

  • The first match isn’t always the best fit
  • Your needs may evolve over time
  • Comfort and connection take priority

Our goal is not just to connect you with a therapist, but to help you find the right one for you. If you’d like support in finding a better match, our team can also guide you through the process.

You remain in control of your journey.

Yes, we have a team of providers who speak a range of languages and are able to offer services in multiple languages. You can choose a provider who speaks your preferred language when booking an appointment.

Ayati is not an emergency service.

If you are in immediate danger or crisis, please contact:

  • NHS 111 (UK)
  • Your GP
  • 999 in an emergency
  • Samaritans on 116 123

Your safety comes first.

Ayati Mind is a mission-driven social enterprise.  We aim to create sustainable impact while maintaining professional standards and long-term scalability.

Currently, therapists and coaches on Ayati set their own fees based on their experience, qualifications and specialisms.

Session costs may vary depending on:

  • Therapy vs coaching
  • Practitioner experience
  • Session length
  • Specialised expertise (e.g. trauma-informed, couples, leadership coaching)

We are committed to pricing transparency, and you will always see the cost before booking.

Accessibility Commitment

We recognise that affordability can be a barrier to accessing mental health support.

Ayati is continuously reviewing its pricing model to make services more accessible and sustainable for our community. This includes:

  • Exploring tiered pricing options
  • Partnering with employers for subsidised access
  • Developing community-supported initiatives
  • Reviewing practitioner structures to balance fairness and affordability

Our mission is long-term impact, and that includes reducing financial barriers wherever possible.

If cost is a concern, we encourage you to reach out. We may be able to help guide you toward options that work for your situation.

Yes.

Ayati is developing partnerships with organisations that want to support the mental well-being of their employees.
